First Place, Class 11
Brown Ale

American Brown Ale, " Dusk "

by Matt Nieberger, Rocklin, CA. 

For 5 gallons:

Grains: 6 lbs. 2-row pale malt.  1 lb. toasted (pale) malt.  1 lb.
40 L. crystal malt. 

Adjuncts: None

Hops: 1.5 oz. Cascade leaf, 5% A.A., boiled 60 min.  1/2 oz.
Cascade, boiled 5 min. 

Yeast: Wyeast American Ale II. 

Water:  Tap water. 

Procedure: Mash grains in single-temperature infusion at 152 F.
Total boil time 90 min. with hop additions as listed above.  Ferment
single-stage at 65 F.  Force-carbonate.  O.G. 1.050, F.G. 1.012.
