MAYFAIRE RULES
|
- The Competition is open only to individuals 21 years of age or over. Brewing teams are
okay (list team member names on entry form). However, no club entries will be accepted.
- All entries must have been made on a home brewing system.
- Contestants are limited to one beer per Subclass. If there are no Subclasses within a
particular Class, then only one beer may be entered in that Class. For example, a
contestant might enter two beers in the European Pale Lager Class, but only one of them
could be a Bohemian Pilsener. The other would have to be in a different Subclass, i.e.,
Munich Helles, North German Pils, or Dortmunder/Export. However, in the California Common
Class the contestant is limited to one entry, as there are no Subclasses in that Class.
- Each contestant must enter three 10 to 14 ounce bottles per entry. These bottles must
have brown, green, or clear glass, though brown is recommended to minimize exposure to
light. For Barleywines, Imperial Stouts, or Meads, smaller bottles holding as little as 6
ounces are allowed. All bottles must be plain, clean, and free of any labels or
identifying marks. For example, Bass Ale bottles are not allowed because the brand name is
embossed in the glass.
- Bottles must have crown caps which must be either plain and free of identifying marks or
sufficiently blacked out with a marking pen. No swing (Grolsch-type) tops are permitted.
- Each entry must be accompanied by a registration form containing complete registration
and recipe information. Either the attached Maltose Falcons Competition
Registration and Recipe Form (or facsimile), or the AHA recipe form may be used.
Contestants may provide brewing notes instead of filling in the recipe section of the
form, but such brewing notes must encompass all of the information requested in the recipe
section of the form. All entrants agree to allow publication of entered recipes, with all
due credit, by the Maltose Falcons. Any beer entered which, in the
opinion of the Competition Organizer, cannot possibly have been made from the recipe
provided will be judged but will not be eligible to receive a ribbon or prize of any kind.
- Each bottle must have a copy of the Maltose Falcons bottle label form or
reasonable facsimile attached by a rubber band onlyno glue or tape. Include
special ingredients, such as the specific herbs used in an Herb Beer, if the judges should
know about them.
- Beers which gush badly from more than one of the three bottles entered will be
disqualified from ribbon or prize consideration.
NOTE: Entries not following the above rules will be
judged but will not be eligible to receive any award. All entries become property of the
Maltose Falcons Home Brewing Society.
