| 2005 Lucky Baldwin's IPA Festival Judging Results |
|
Every June, David Farnworth opens his doors for his third festival of the year, his IPA Festival.
Always with a sense of community pride and volunteerism, the Falcons (led by Tom and Lois Hamilton) help David out by arranging
a blind judging of all the festival beers with evaluations leading to winners. Of course the Falcons willingly jump into battle
against many of the hoppiest beers provided on the West Coast.
|
| India Pale Ales |
There were 26 regular strength IPA's available for the judging this year and 4 tables of judges set to work on
the lot. Beers were mostly from the West Coast, but we did have at least one goer from the Old Country.
The Judges each selected their best beers to then be eliminated in a final round.
|
| First Round Winners |
| Bear Republic - Racer 5 |
| Drake's - IPA |
| Oggi's - Torrey Pines IPA |

| Pizzaport Brewing (San Clemente) - El Camino IPA |
| Pizzaport Brewing (Solana Beach) - Swami's IPA |
| |
| The first round winners were scooped up, renumbered, poured afresh and passed to the judges
for their second evaluation. In the spirit of true Americana, every judge had one vote to determine the winners.

After all the hard work of judging the first 26 beers, our weary judges were now presented with the
task of tackling their beefier cousins, the Double IPAs. Tasty, hoppy and potent these were the beers many judges were looking
forward to. The judges tackled all 12 outright and selected winners from the pool.
