August Club Shop Brew - Sour Beer!

Falcons, save the date and pucker up, because for the August Club Shop Brew Session, you'll be brewing a sour beer led by Sour Patch Kid John Aitchison. John will also lead the Falcons' 2nd Annual Sour Beer tasting during the brew day, starting about 12 PM, which is open to all comers, not just the Brew Crew.

You'll be tasting commercial and homebrewed Lambics, Flanders Reds/Browns, Berliner Weiss, and Wild Ales, so come on down, get sour and funky and demolish your palate while expanding your knowledge of this increasingly popular, never dull beer category.

Falcons Board Secretary Melody Hitt will lead an all-women brew crew in making an Irish Red Ale in honor of Saint Patrick's Day, and because she is an Irish redhead herself. Her grandfather brewed this beer several times, and from the time Melody was seven years old, she would help him "cook his beer."  Since then, this Irish Red Ale has become one of her favorite, standbys recipes, with delicious results.

November Club Shop Brew Session - Copper Serpent Honey Ale!

Falcons, sign up now for the next Club Shop Brew Session, Sunday Nov. 9, as Steve and Irene lead the crew in brewing a unique beer - Copper Serpent Honey Ale. Every brew crew member has to bring 3 lbs. of honey, so in addition to bumping up the cost for ingredient by about $20, it will seriously bump up the ABV and flavor! Since Steve and Irene first brewed it in 2011, it has never been in a competition, but maybe this time it will! It will be especially interesting to see how everyone's different honey makes a unique beer, so please bring some back to share and sample with the club!
