The Next Club Meeting is June 2nd in Woodland Hills. Come have a beer or join us for the Mayfaire Festival on May 18th in Acton!
Mayfaire Fest-- You Shoulda Been There.......
It is now Sunday afternoon. Home again after a wonderful weekend spent at the Acton KOA enjoying beer, outstanding dinner (yay Peter!) and great snacks brought by everyone.
But best of all was being surrounded by fellow Falcons. Though we were a smaller group than I was expecting, everyone was in great spirits....
MAYFAIRE COMP A ROUSING SUCCESS-- THANKS TO YOU!
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came to today's Mayfaire Competition. To all of you judges who are probably home nursing their writing hands from the MANY entries that you had to judge today and to Peter who made a fabulous meal for everyone. But especially to my rockin' stewards. I was amazed by how many of you turned up to help out for the long day. Not only did you do all the running and checking scores, with Dave filing the completed score sheets (thanks Dave). You stewards also helped clean up things as well and....
Another Winning Time at the DKM!
I will leave the specifics to the President and VPs to tell everyone about today's DKM, but I would just like to say a giant thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to come and participate in our event. We had 40 or so judges and 15 stewards who did a fantastic job. I want to say a special thanks to Steve Scott for taking care of the keg and growler pours for the entire time.
Thank You Falcons!!! Toy Drive a Huge Success!
Dearest Falcons!
I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to bring a toy to our 4th Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive. We collected 3 giant Hefty bags full of toys for the children. We delivered them to the Fire Department on Fallbrook. They were truly astounded to see how many toys we were unloading from the car. They asked us to thank all of you for your generosity.
Get Those Anchor Accomplishments Ready!! The Time is Here to Reply!
As Drew told everyone at the last meeting, it is time to get your Anchor blurbs in, cause it is time for the Falcons to take back the Anchor Homebrew Club of the Year Award. What comps have you entered? What comps have you won in? What events did you volunteer at? Judge at? Steward at? What creative positive thing can you contribute to the Board so they can put together a report?
Don't Forget! Nominations for Board at the September Meeting
Hey Falcons, old and new, having served on the board, I can tell you that it is a good experience. though sometimes challenging.
A FINE TIME INDEED ~ MAYFAIRE 2012 by the Alewench
Just when I think that a Falcon Fest that I have attended could not be topped.... BOOM! Mayfaire 2012 arrives and I realize that each event just gets better and better. And no, it is not the fine homebrew talking, as I have had time to come down from that, do all the wonderful “back home, must do laundry, must clean camp kit” and decided that I needed to write this down immediately.
Doug King Comp A Rousing Success--Yet I Didn't Win!!! by the Alewench
We had a fine Doug King Competition yesterday. You shoulda been there if ya weren't!! Over 40 judges and many stewards (including my good friend Gina) converged on the Eagle Rock Brewery bright and early on the morning of the 21st. With over 100 entries to judge, we knew we were in for a long but very fulfilling and filling day!

Mayfaire Happened/ Rapture Didn't! What Could Be Bettah?
Each year when I attend Mayfaire, I think that this year's fest could not possibly top last years. But it always does. My time was perfect. Had everyone I love there. My boyfriend and my two best friends in the universe, Helen and Gina, accompanied by Gina's musician husband, Carl. Steve and I arrived on Friday, set up camp and had a great dinner with Richard, Susan, Kent and Martin. Beanie got his satanic fire machine going and the evening was warm and the beer was fabulous.
